Don't Forget To Bring Your Death Certificate...
I've been spreading the word about the upcoming Castration Squad reunion show, taking place this coming Friday, September 2nd in Hollywood. Click on the Date With Jack flyer above for more details. That's Tiffany in the limo with her favorite dead boyfriend.
I was reminded by Dinah Cancer at our last rehearsal that Shannon used to get angry with the rest of us girls if we broke character onstage and laughed or smiled. Shannon took Castration Squad very seriously and so we were not allowed to smile or laugh in publicity photos or onstage. This became even more difficult when Shannon decided to add a cover version of "Cruella DeVille" to our live set. During rehearsal, when she got to the line "at first you think Cruella is a devil..." we made little devil horns over our head with our fingers, which elicited some snickering behind Shannon's back. Shannon was not amused and lectured us about remaining serious onstage. But she usually ended up laughing with the rest of us as soon as we got offstage.
Dinah recalls that the reason we formed the Cambridge Apostles was in direct response to Shannon's refusal to allow us to play music with a more upbeat, pop feel. Tiffany and I switched instruments when we formed the Cambridge Apostles and she took over on bass guitar.
If you ever wanted to see Castration Squad live, this may very well be your one and only opportunity. The lineup will feature Dinah on vocals, Tiffany Kennedy on bass, Tracy Lea on guitar, Lisafer on drums and me on keyboards. We are keeping our fingers crossed for some special guests who we can't announce ahead of time. We're opening the show at 9pm, so don't be late and don't forget to bring your death certificate!

Might one of those "special guests" be a certain all-American Jewish lesbian folk singer? Just asking . . .
We hope this will "NOT" be the only show! I think there is room for CS to be around, as well as being valid in the duldrums of what we call the Music Scene today!!
So Alice and Girls, please don't disappoint this old man and bring it on!! And PLAY MORE SHOWS!!!!!
By the way, Tiffany rules!!!
The Prez of the Tiffany Kennedy Fan Club!
Castration Squad f..... Rules!!!!!
I hope you girls dress up in your uniforms! And what about a CD release of old and new material?? That would be good!!!

with all the work that i'm sure has gone into this, y'all should play a show in frisco as well. i'm sure ethan could put together something interesting, or failing that there's lots of lil' gothy places up here..
role call:
who here is going on Friday night?
From today's LA Weekly:
"Curiouser and curiouser is an unexpected reunion by the early-’80s Hollywood goth-punk coven Castration Squad, with Dinah Cancer, Snap-Her’s Lisa Pifer, longtime-MIA Redd Kross guitarist Tracy Lea, Tiffany Kennedy and the morbidly witty housewife from hell Alice Bag. Be very afraid." (Falling James)

We're really hoping that one of our friends/associates will videotape the show because it is a one-time only gig. At least, we are hoping that there will be an opportunity to record the audio off the boards at the Key Club.
We do hope that if anyone in the audience records the show, they will contact Alice with a copy of the recording so that we can work on making it available to Castration Squad fans around the world. All 3 of them... Just kidding.
Well it was interesting to say the least. The girls looked nervous, but happy! The set was short but well rounded. And for the few lucky hundred who witnessed the gig can tell you it was a very special evening indeed! It was also well documented (video taped, pictured,etc...)! Thank you to Alice, Dinah, Tiffany, Tracy and Lisa for giving us some special moments as well as bringing us back to a time when music was still dangerous and fresh! You girls rule!!!!
C/S Fan Slave Forever!!!
