I am happy to announce that we have a new interview posted today with Lisa Fancher. For those of you who don't know, Lisa was one of the first females involved on the business side of the indie record business. She got her start at Bomp, which was one of the first stores to carry punk music. Through her label, Frontier Records, Lisa was responsible for helping establish and distribute globally what became the blueprint for the So-Cal Hardcore sound. It would be hard to overestimate her importance to the modern punk scene.

Nice blog, Alice! I was just watching an excellent documentary on the Punk scene this past week (Punk Attitude by Don Letts) and I turned to my husband and said, "I know her," as soon as I saw your face! You look great!
(I was a good friend of Brad's from Berkeley and hung out with you and Betsy and Rick and went to tons of shows roughly from 1983 to early 1985. Glad to see you are alive and well.)
Alice you did it again.. Lisa is an institution here in LA,just like Jenny Lens, and Xene, she was so instrumental in filling a much needed void and gave us all some great albums over the years. Besides punk releases, she also gave one of the best bands EVER! Thin White Rope! Lisa Fancher rocks!

I had the pleasure to interview Lisa for my site (which you linked - thanks!) and have remained in touch with her ever since. Lisa is awesome and I'm glad I got to know her, not to mention she was responsible for putting out a ton of records that were crucial to my skateboarding punk rock teen years in the 1980s.
