Punk Sex Symbols

Terry Graham = Johnny Depp? You be the judge. This is for all the Terry Graham fans out there. We had no idea he had so many. Either that or Terry has been feverishly posting as "anonymous"!

Speaking of sex symbols, we are pleased as punch (and why exactly is punch so damn pleased?) to announce the posting of the latest in a series of interviews with Women In L.A. Punk, Trudie!

i think the reason Johnny Depp came to Hollywood and started in a band, is because of Terry Graham. If a guy from TX can make,a guy from Kentucky (johnny is from there) can make it to!

if a guy from TX can make IT, a guy from Kentucky can too...

i was just thinking, that when I watched surreal life with Jane "drano" Go-Go's girl...She didn't talk about her life then at all....
was she a poser during this time in the Punk scene in LA ?

I found out about your site on Virgin Insider. Your site was Site of the week. Did you know that?>

Alice - what a GREAT interview with Trudie! And great photos too. Reminds me of how much I miss Jules Bates. I'm THRILLED to see a Lynda Burdick photo. She's another great lady who never got her due.

MOSTLY, however, I just love that Trudie and KK are still together and everyone in LA seems to be in touch because Alice is the spoke or the axle or whatever part of the wheel that keeps this car moving. Great work. I can't wait to tell Miriam Linna that she's name-checked here, so all the Norton Records subscribers can visit and read this great blog. It makes me miss all my LA friends from the 70s... but here in NYC, I've got Miriam (and Billy Miller), and Jeff Magnum and this internet.

Yep, I second that... another GREAT interview. Keep 'em coming, these women and their stories are so inspiring.

I've been lusting for both Trudie and Pleasant's diaries for years! What is it going to take to get them published??

I always thought Terry incredibly sexy. Those dark eyes and bone structure and such a nice guy (and smart and funny). And no, Jane Draino was not a poseur! The Go-Gos -- Belinda, Jane, Charlotte and original bassist Margot -- were REAL Punks! I have the shots and memories to prove it! It was such a SHOCK to hear their sound after their first British tour. I'm so proud of their success, but their authenticity as punks is not debatable. READ the lyrics -- some are very dark. There's a punk sensibility beneath the pop music.

Jane's done a lot in her life -- you expect her to talk about the early punk days all the time? Catch the "Behind the Music" hour devoted to them. They showed about a couple dozen shots of mine of them during their early punk days.

Check my site (www.jennylens.net) to see Jane and Charlotte at the Masque. And Belinda in the August 1977 fashion shoot with Alice, Pleasant and Hellin with Tommy and Tomata of the Screamers. Trudie was supposed to come, but neither she nor I know why she didn't. I have tons more fashion shots to post. But those other shots were taken at shows, parties, the street, just hanging out.

Thank you Alice and Trudie for sharing some great memories. I remember being surprised/flattered my shot of nude Capt Sensible of the Damned was prominently taped to the Plunger's bathroom wall. It was really large, published on newsprint in some punk fanzine. Their whole apartment was covered with images from various publications. We all taped something on our walls, but they did it in a big way. I remember something about spaghetti -- maybe they had a big platter of it when I was there. A big regret is I never shot the Plunger Pit, focusing on their neighbors, X, instead. Oh well.

Trudie, along with Hellin, Pleasant, Alice and Cherie the Penguin were the most outrageously glamorous punks to photograph. I could count on them always looking fabulous and willing to let me shoot away! Thanks ladies!

I just want to take this opportunity to thank all my fans for the flattering compliments about my "Sex Symbol" photo. It's filled me with humility and made me want to touch myself.

Of course, I couldn't have done it without the help of a lot of fine folks but I don't want to bore you so let me just tell you all that I'm currently in Rome starring in my one-man show ("Way to Go, Pope!). I'm affectionately referred to around here as Saint Dominus the Divine, Keeper of the Happy Vagina and Prefect of the Papal Pussy. Soon, I'll be taking my act on the road in the production of "Bagdad, Oh You Bagdad!" where they're already referring to me as Keeper of the Sacred Camel Toe. But for all you statesiders, I'm immediately available as a stand-up for bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings, campfires, pajama parties or child production (eight minutes of stand-up, five minutes of humping - no exceptions!), absolutely free. A six-pack and gift certificate to Wal Mart and I'll marry you and fix your car.

And, no, I don't now and never have posted "feverishly." When I do post, I proudly display my name even though my accomplishments would barely fill a post-it note.

Yes, I still look EXACTLY the same as the posted photo. Really.

Love to all,
Bubbles the "Burping" Clown

i just want to agree with jenny lens about jane and the go-go's, they were some of the first punks around, and i still think jane is so adorable, she came to a friends breast cancer fund raising event and didn't even know her. i also think she was the smartest person on the surreal life and it pissed me off when that girl hurt her feelings about being popular in the eighties, people are so clueless when it comes to genuinely cool things.

GOOD TO SEE SOME OF THE ORIGINAL L.A. PUNKS STILL HAVE THEIR ARTISTIC JUICES FLOWING. WOULD LOVE TO READ TRUDIES DIARIES OR A BOOK ON GERBER. MAYBE YOU COULD GET A INTERVIEW WITH GERBER? I KNOW SHE WAS IN A BAND WITH KIRA CALLED SEX SICK AND ALSO SPENT SOMETIME IN TWISTED ROOTS

Dear Anon, about that Wal Mart certificate - since I'm pretty well tooled already, fixing your blower motor shouldn't be a problem. So, forget the certificate and just get me a set of satin sheets, some plastic flowers and a case of condoms. Beer is beer, but dark is better. I'll be out in June, can I take a look at the room then?

And by the way, Trudie and KK, I would be honored to include any of your thoughts or sermons or asides in my book, Punk Like Me. It's an open call for contributions before I put this trash in the bus stations, porno shops and civil courts of America.

tg,
sorry I have to ask what are the condoms for?

RE: photo

What the scene really needs is a Lynda Burdick book. I would love to see more of her photographs and I'm sure other people would like to see them as well.
